Why I switched to an early morning workout routine
If you are not a morning person, you are already intimidated by the phrase morning workout and I totally understand you.
I once felt that too and now I can’t imagine my life any other way.
Exercising has never been my favorite activity to do, not to mention morning exercise at home.
As much as I tried to incorporate it into my life, i never actually made it a part of my everyday routine.
Returning home from work and having so many things to do for my kids, my husband and the household…
Aghh by the end of the day I had no energy left to exercise (nor i wanted to).
I felt tired and no matter how hard I tried to remind myself of the benefits of exercise, it just wasn’t enough.
There have always been other priorities and I also had to take some time to relax.
Further to the above, mom guilt always gets on the way. I feel that I work too many hours in the day, so I try for my free time to be completely dedicated to my children.
As soon as I return home from work, I want to spend every second of my day with my family doing activities that allow us to be together and enjoy quality time.
However, I didn’t want to totally give up on my everyday exercise routine…so I decided to switch to early morning workout…
and yes, yes, yes, exercising early morning is possible, even for tired working mamas.
Even though I thought of it as extremely difficult, I decided to waking up 1 hour before everyone else in the house and dedicate this time to myself, to exercise at the ease of my own house.
What I realized is that a good morning exercise has much more to offer than just exercise your body.
Amazing benefits you as well should take into consideration because believe me your body, mind and soul will be transformed:
Benefits of morning workout
#1. Improves Mood
Initially, morning workout significantly improves mood. It offers wellness and generally a more optimistic note to your day.
Research shows that morning workout promotes the secretion of endorphins, hormones that fight stress and create feelings of well-being and joy.
At the same time, chemicals produced by exercise stimulate the production of new nerve cells, and give purity of mind, clarity and enhanced memory and perception.
#2. Fully energized
Workout contributes to the transport of oxygen to the muscles, organs and tissues. So the body gets this extra boosting early in the morning and you have all the energy you need to carry out all your daily obligations.
What’s better than starting your day full of energy!
#3. Weight Loss!
Morning workout, among other things, awakens the body, regulates appetite and increases metabolism.
On a typical day, your energy reserves are quickly depleted and you try to replace them with all kinds of unhealthy snacks.
But if you have strengthened your body with extra doses of energy at the start of your day, your reserves will last much longer.
At the same time, in the morning, fat burns faster than in the evening! Now you understand why #3 is my favorite! 🙂
#4. Rest of the day remains free
Another cool benefit of morning workout is the fact that you get your exercise done in the morning and then you are free for the rest of the day.
This way you are more likely to stay consistent. You will not cancel your workout due to other obligations that may occur in the afternoon or because you are tired.
#5. Feeling of self-discipline and accomplishment.
If you manage to sneak early morning workout into your daily routine, then you are already starting your day with an achievement.
You feel that you are in control of yourself and that you have already accomplished something before others even begin their day.
You are one step ahead of everyone and that gives you confidence, motivation to continue and self-esteem.
Tips to never miss your morning workout
Maybe it sounds impossible for you to actually be consistent to your morning workout routine, but I’ve got your back!
Keep reading for tips on how to get motivated and get started:
Get excited!
Benefits of morning workout are enormous! It’s the best start to your busy day, the best mood changer, a great way for self care, a powerful energizer.
Think of all those benefits and motivate yourself to jump out of bed excited and happy!
Put your alarm clock across the room and make sure the volume is set to loud
Put your alarm to such a distance that you have to get out of bed to close it. This way you will avoid the temptation of snoozing and the risk of falling asleep.
Gradually change your wake up time
If normally you get up at 8 a.m don’t suddenly change it to 5 a.m. Every day try and wake up 15 minutes earlier until you feel used to it. This way the transition is smoother and easier.
Go to sleep earlier at night. If you go to sleep at 2 a.m then it will be very difficult to be consistent with your morning workout program.
Go to bed early at night to enjoy at least 6 hours of good sleep.
Prepare everything you need the night before
Have your clothes, sneakers, etc. ready, so you don’t have to worry about them in the morning.
Be persistent
No matter how much you wanna stay in bed just GET UP! Keep pushing during the first days until your body and inner clock gets used to the new routine of yours..
As soon as you start seeing results believe me you ‘ll jump out of bed as soon as you wake up!
Should you eat before or after morning workout
Your pre-workout meal should be light and give you just the energy you need to get started.
Always drink some water to mobilize the muscles and then a good idea is to have a small banana with tahini and honey. It’s so tasty plus it will stimulate you incredibly.
After your morning workout and ideally within half an hour, you should offer your body a rich breakfast, to make up for lost energy.
A whole grain toast and avocado, an omelette, an energy smoothie, these are all very good choices.
Take a look at this post to discover more amazing energy boosting snack ideas.
Morning vs. evening workout
The workout routine you choose should be the one you enjoy and that you could easily follow faithfully and consistently.
If you are still in a dilemma about whether to choose morning or evening workout, consider the following factors:
Whether you prefer to exercise on an empty stomach so that you do not feel heavy, or if you want to have eaten before and get energy.
Do you workout for energy during your day or as a way to relax and unwind at the end of the day? For me workout is not a way to relax. It’s an activity to keep my body and mind healthy, that also boosts my energy levels. So i take advantage of this, by practicing morning workout.
Research has also shown that morning exercise promotes fat burning as cells that boost metabolism are stronger in the morning, hence promoting weight loss.
On the other hand, exercising in the afternoon uses less oxygen and energy, so it is more likely that in the afternoon you will have more endurance and exercise more.
Morning Exercise Kicks Butt! Try it!
Before you reject morning workout just give it a try. Keep pushing until you start enjoying its first benefits.
Then you will be transformed and naturally it will become the most important self-care step of your daily routine!

I really should do this, but I am NOT a morning person. Great tips for giving it a go, though!
I like it to get it over with lol. But the other points you made are a benefit too
I know I should get up and exercise first thing but it rarely happens these days! Right now I try to get in yoga or a bike ride before lunch time!
So true! Morning workout is always better than any other
I really want to get in the habit of working out in the morning!
I have such a tough time getting going in the morning. It is great that you can do this. Definitely a lot of benefits to a morning workout.
I absolutely agree! I am lost without my morning workout!
I’m sure #3 is everyone favorite haha! I also like that it’s very relaxing, I feel so good after every workout.
Hi nice website https://google.com
I definitely need to get in the habit of working out in the morning. It definitely starts my day off right.
It’s great that a morning workout has worked for you! I’ve tried it before and it just doesn’t work for me.
I always do my workout but not in the morning, I’m more an evening person. I’d like to try a month of morning workout. I’ll let you know. – Amalia
Check on all 5 benefits from a morning workout! I used to do my workouts at 5AM, but if it really becomes impossible due to work, I do my workouts after working hours like 6PM onwards. I do agree that it is best to exercise in the morning as it gives you a different boost the whole day, but if it really cannot be done, then an evening workout is better than none for me.
I absolutely adore morning workouts too! I find that doing it first thing in the morning makes sure I actually get it done, because we all know how busy life can be. These are great tips to help people get going on a new early schedule!
I used to hate morning workouts, but I started IF and would get too hungry staying home, so I started walking then running. You are so right about all the benefits. That morning run is my only alone time and it has made my scale very happy
Absolutely right! morning workout will help us in weight loss…..it makes our whole day happy……. we will feel fresh in the whole day.
I much prefer doing my yoga in the morning. It really wakes me up and helps to free up the rest of my day.
Thanks for this post!
I am not a morning person but my morning workouts make it much easier to get out of bed. There is nothing better than being done with your workout and ready for your day early in the morning.
You have an amazing lifestyle! A morning workout is so important to make us fit!

I need to learn to do this since I work mornings now and I can actually do light stretches again since its been 3 months since I gave birth.
I’ve always preferred to workout in the morning too. It sets such a great tone for the day!
I am not a morning person at all but I have always wanted to be one and get up to work out. I usually end up working out in the late afternoon once I can convince myself to go.
I am fairly disciplined about my morning yoga session, and whenever due to some reason if I have to cut it short or skip it altogether, I feel my day goes wasted. Agree with you, it does give a feeling of accomplishment.
Great points! I have always found that a morning workout sets me up mentally to be productive throughout the day. I think it’s that sense of accomplishment that you described. I start my day on that high, that positive feeling and it motivates me to keep accomplishing things as the day goes on.
I definitely need to start doing morning workouts! They have so many benefits!
Taking your tips into consideration so I can get up and do a workout tomorrow morning! I’ve felt so sluggish recently that I think it will really help 🙂

Haha, among these five benefits, topping the list for me too is the item number three. Especially during this lockdown when cooking and eating ate most of my time hahha
I didn’t know fat burns are faster in the morning. I just started with a morning work out routine too and my favorite is that everybody is still asleep at this time.
Morning workouts are really amazing. Good way to start the day right!
